Great Lakes Industrial Acquires Chinook O-Ring

Great Lakes Rubber & Supply, Inc. (GLR), a local 3rd generation family-owned industrial sealing distributor, has acquired Chinook O-ring and Seals in Portland, OR. Chinook has been a wholesale distributor of standard, metric, and special sized O-rings, as well as custom molded elastomers, since 1978. The official announcement was made from GLR’s headquarters in Milwaukee in August 2021. The deal was signed August 20, 2021.

“We are excited to take on the Chinook tradition and bring our brand of quality and responsiveness to the Northwest,” said President George Baumann. “We believe that our expanded product line and supplier relationships will help Chinook become an even better strategic partner to its customers.”

The acquisition of Chinook fits into GLR’s vision to sustain growth by offering technical solutions to its customers through innovative thinking, trusted quality, and unparalleled service. By purchasing Chinook, GLR continues to build upon the value it offers to its current customers, now offering that same strategic value to Chinook’s long-standing customers. This also helps GLR continue to build towards its goal of doubling in size over the next decade. GLR’s robust value-added services, including customer managed inventory (CMI), kitting, and assembly, will now be immediately extended to Chinook’s customer base. GLR is also excited to have a stake in the Beaverton community and the Portland metropolitan area as a whole and looks forward to contributing to the area.
